The viral Shiny Shoe Workshop comes to Manchester, offering a creative space to transform tired footwear into custom works of art. Led by artist and upcycling expert Marcie Kobernus, these sessions teach the specific gilding techniques required to apply metallic foils to shoes, providing a sustainable and stylish alternative to fast fashion.
Participants will learn how to prep their shoes and apply professional-grade foils in a variety of colors. The process is designed to be accessible for both DIY beginners and experienced makers. By the end of the three-and-a-half-hour session, attendees will have a completed pair of “shiny shoes” and the knowledge to apply these upcycling skills to other projects at home.
Important Details:
What to Bring: Please bring one pair of clean shoes or ankle-height boots. To ensure the foil adheres correctly, footwear must be made of leather, faux leather, or patent leather. Fabric, canvas, and suede materials are not suitable for this technique.
Materials Provided: All necessary foils, adhesives, and tools are included in the workshop fee.
Take Home Kit: Every participant receives a mini Shiny Shoe repair kit, including protective varnish and foil, to maintain their creations at home.
