James ‘Jay’ Lewis – Live at The Yard
Join us for an intimate show with Liverpool’s own James ‘Jay’ Lewis—multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and long-time member of some of the city’s most iconic bands.
Best known for his work with The La’s, Cast, and The Zutons, Lewis has carved out a remarkable solo career that showcases the full range of his raw talent. A self-taught guitarist who started playing at age eight, his music draws from classic influences like Hendrix, Zeppelin, Nick Drake, and Pink Floyd—channelled into a sound that feels both timeless and fresh.
His two solo albums, Back to the Fountain and Waiting for the World, reveal the full breadth of his musical scope. The first is a beautifully crafted acoustic journey, while the second delivers gritty, lo-fi garage rock infused with blues and psychedelia—a sound described as “brilliantly innovative” and full of retro flavour.
Expect a dynamic 45-minute split set that takes you through the soul of both albums, performed with the depth and energy only Lewis can bring. A true craftsman, he wrote, performed, and produced every element of both records himself.
In recent years, James has collaborated with legends like Nile Rodgers at Abbey Road Studios and played a major role in recording The Zutons’ latest album. And later this year, he’ll be joining Cast to support the highly anticipated Oasis reunion stadium shows.
This is a rare chance to catch one of Liverpool’s most respected musicians up close and personal.
Don’t miss it.
